Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know which class is right for my dancer?

NODC offers classes for all ages and experience levels, including beginners! When choosing a class, consider your dancer’s age, experience, personality, and interests. Dancers with a calmer temperament may enjoy ballet or lyrical, while high-energy dancers often thrive in hip hop, pom, jazz, acro, or tap. Our goal is to help every dancer find a class where they can have fun, grow, and feel confident.

Does my dancer need previous dance experience?

Not at all! Beginners are welcome at all ages at NODC. Whether your dancer is stepping into a studio for the first time or has years of experience, we offer classes where they can learn at their own pace, build confidence, and develop a genuine love of dance.

What programs does NODC offer for dancers looking for more?

NODC offers several opportunities for dancers who want to take their training, performance, and commitment to the next level. Our Performance Team, Performance PLUS Team, and Competition Team each offer a different experience and level of commitment. Visit our Programs & Teams page to learn more about each program and find the best fit for your dancer.

Can my dancer join NODC after the season has started?

Sometimes! NODC may offer November and January starts depending on class availability. Later-start enrollment is based on available space, so specific days, styles, or genres cannot always be guaranteed. If you’re interested in joining mid-season, reach out to see what opportunities are currently available.

What can my dancer expect from the NODC experience?

At NODC, we believe we're building great dancers and great humans. Dance is an opportunity to develop confidence, discipline, teamwork, empathy, and compassion while creating friendships and becoming part of a community. We want every dancer to feel included, supported, safe, and proud of who they are—both inside and outside the studio.

How does NODC prioritize dancer safety?

Safety is one of the foundations of the NODC experience. We are committed to creating a studio environment where dancers feel safe, respected, supported, and comfortable being themselves. Our commitment to YPAD (Youth Protection Advocates in Dance) reflects our focus on dancer well-being and creating a healthy, positive environment for every member of our NODC family.

How do I get started at NODC?
